Crafternoon

Third Saturday Each Month at 11:00 AM | Free & Open to All
201 West 11th Street, Erie, PA 16501

Step into a space where creativity meets community care.

Crafternoon at Journey is your invitation to slow down, make something with your hands, and connect with others (and with yourself!). Whether you’re an experienced artist or just curious to try, this is a safe, low-pressure space to create freely and explore how art can support healing.

What is Crafternoon?

Every Saturday of Wellness Weekend, we open our doors and art supplies for a relaxing, come-as-you-are crafting session.

Some days we offer guided art activities, like watercolor painting, collage journaling, or mindful mandalas. Other times, it’s an Open Art Studio where you can follow your own inspiration with a variety of supplies on hand.

Why We Craft Together

At Journey, we believe art is more than just making something pretty, it’s a way to process feelings, regulate our nervous systems, and reconnect with joy.

  • No judgment. Your art doesn’t need to be “good”—it just needs to be yours.

  • Mindful creativity. Making something with your hands helps calm the mind and body.

  • Gentle connection. Crafternoon is a quiet, comforting space where conversations happen naturally—but silence is welcome, too.

  • Choice and autonomy. Stay for 20 minutes or two hours. Follow the prompt or do your own thing. You get to decide.

What We Provide

  • A wide variety of supplies: paints, markers, collage materials, etc.

  • Simple prompts or tutorials (if you want them!)

  • Volunteers and staff who can guide, assist, or just hold space

  • A welcoming, affirming atmosphere with comfy seating and calming music

Who Is Crafternoon For?

  • Adults and teens who want a creative outlet in a safe space

  • People exploring healing from trauma, stress, or burnout

  • Folks who may feel intimidated by traditional art spaces

  • Anyone who just wants to make something with kind people around

No experience? No problem. All skill levels are welcome.
